About Us
Recognized as one of the best youth orchestras in the continent, the National Youth Orchestra of Uruguay-Sodre (OJS), is an indispensable tool for training and promoting new musical talents of the country. It has conquered the public opinion by the quality shown on its Main Season Concerts at the Sodre´s National Auditorium, as well as on its international tours, that included prestigious venues such as Berliner Philharmonie, New World Center in Miami, Madrid´s National Auditorium, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Heredia Theater in Cuba, among others.
Our Story
Keeping the spirit of its origins, the OJS leads the System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Uruguay through the implementation of the “One Kid, One Instrument” program, which pursues the development of intellectual, cultural, sensitivity and creativity skills of 3,500 Children from all over the country, their families and their communities.
The 2022 International Tour to Spain, France and Germany, in addition to exhibiting works of the universal and Latin American repertoire, includes composers and deep expressions of Uruguayan culture, such as the symphonic version of Tango, which was declared as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
