ARIEL BRITOS

Is the founding director of the National Youth Orchestra of Uruguay-Sodre and El Sistema Uruguay (a national Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs network with cultural and social goals), as well as current president of IberOrquestas a program of Ibero-American General Secretariat.

 

His career as a musician and leader of a movement of social inclusion and cultural transformation through music have earned him distinctions such as: UNESCO Artist for Peace (UNESCO), 2013 Fraternity Award (B´nai B´rith), Gold Citizen (Latin American Development Center), Wings to Culture Award (InterArte), Morosoli Award, 2018 San Felipe and Santiago Award (Government of Montevideo), among others.

 

He was trained in Venezuela in conducting orchestras, nourishing directly from Mtro. José Antonio Abreu, who developed a methodology for teaching musical instruments through Intensive Orchestral Practice.

 

In the international sphere, he has participated in the UNESCO, OAS, CAF and SEGIB programs through which he carries out an intense work as consultant and conductor of Orchestras in Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Brazil, Spain and Germany.

 

As Director of the National Youth Orchestra-Sodre, he conducts its main seasons at the Sodre´s National Auditorium and its International Tours: Panama - USA (2013); Germany - France - Spain (2014), USA - Mexico (2015), Spain - Italy (2017); United States - Cuba (2019).
